After the regular season ends, the playoffs will take place from June 7 to 21, which will determine which team will advance to Spain’s La Liga. A total of 22 teams will compete in the league, including 15 teams from last season, three teams that were relegated from La Liga, and four teams that were promoted from the third division of Spanish football. For fans and football bookmakers, this long season provides plenty of opportunities to analyze teams, track form, and follow betting markets as the race for promotion unfolds.

After last season, Levante, Elche, and Oviedo were promoted to La Liga. Leganes, Las Palmas, and Valladolid were relegated to La Liga 2. Eldense, Cartagena, Racing Ferrol, and Tenerife were relegated to the third division of Spanish football. These clubs were replaced by Andorra, Ceuta, Cultural Leonesa, and Real Sociedad B.
As many as eight La Liga 2 teams changed coaches this summer. Valladolid said goodbye to Alvaro Rubio, Real Sociedad B strategist Iosu Rivas became assistant coach of Real Sociedad’s main team, and several other teams simply did not renew their contracts with their coaches.
