UEFA Champions League Prediction: Chelsea – PSG (17-03-2026)
One of the most entertaining matches of the past week saw a 7 goal thriller which should guarantee us another interesting upcoming fixture. Unfortunately for Chelsea, 5 of those goals were scored by PSG and now the London side needs a crushing victory in order to go further.
1st Leg
The first leg between PSG and Chelsea was the highest scoring match (tied with Bayern vs Atalanta and Atletico vs Tottenham) of the past week UCL. The Paris side were slight favourites before the match, so no one really expected them to create a 3 goals advantage.
Both teams showed early that they are willing to search for goals and B.Barcola blasted in a goal only in the 10th minute of the game. The lead did not last very long as M.Gusto found an equalizer, but O.Dembele reminded everyone why he was given a ballon d’or and won the half with a great finish.
Chelsea started the second half with a lot of success and an amazing P.Neto’s run and pass ended with E.Fernandez making the score 2-2. With PSG failing to be as dangerous as they were in the first half, L.Enrique brought in K.Kvaratshkelia, who usually is a starter, from the bench and this sub changed the game.

The Georgian assisted Vitinha and later added two more goals making the score 5-2. He was given the man of the match awards despite playing only 30 minutes.
Although the scoreline suggests that PSG was a way better team, that isn’t true. Chelsea could have scored more goals and finished the game with a higher xG than the home side. PSG once again showed what great individual players they have who can single handedly win them a game.
What to Expect in the 2nd Leg?
The French Football Association agreed to postpone PSG’s upcoming fixture against Nantes in Ligue 1 which means they can rest for 6 days. Whereas Chelsea have a very important match against Newcastle for the top 4 spots. L.Rosenior might decide that from now on the Blues only priority is the Premier League as failing to qualify for this European competition next year would likely result in his firing.
Obviously, Chelsea will go on the attack, which should result in quite a few goals again. Still, their current position in the national league, the schedule, and PSG’s stars should make it a tricky bet for reliable bookmakers.
