UEFA Champions League Prediction: Atletico Madrid – Club Brugge (24-02-2026)

One of the most entertaining games of the last week gets part two this Tuesday. With the both sides parting friendly with a draw, this match has a potential to be even more eventful as now we will know the winner.

Although Atleti were slight favourites to win even in an away fixture, Brugge side once again showed up against the Spanish team. Despite the fact that Atletico were leading for the majority of the game, the final score was more or less fair. Surprisingly, the Belgium champions had twice as many shots on target as the Spanish side, shooting 10 times versus the opponents 4.

Both teams deserve praise for their efficiency in crucial situations, since Brugge and Atleti had a very similar expected goals ratio (2.32 vs 2.33) and converted even more in goals.

This is something they should strive for in this UEFA Champions League match-up as now the winner will be clear in 120th minutes in the worst case scenario.

Atletico Madrid have a very important match this weekend against Espanyol for the top 4 positions. We might see some changes in the line up, but likely only in defensive or midfield areas, hence J.Alvarez, A.Lookman and A.Griezmaan are their best chances to go through to the quarter-finals.

Club Brugge also finds themselves in an unwanted situation in the national league, but they won’t face any top opponent this or next week, so we should expect even less changes in the starting line-up, unless the coach will take a more defensive approach.

However, everything now starts from the beginning and there is no need for either team to set up a deep defensive line. The great addition of A.Lookman makes Atleti’s attack more dangerous and the team with him now averages 2.6 goals per match.
