Fury Remains Hungry
Many boxing fans are wondering why a man who has achieved it all in the sport wants to come back. He’s made millions, won world titles, beat big-name opponents, and sold out major venues worldwide. What’s left to achieve?
It seems Tyson needs boxing as much as boxing needs Tyson. Will he recapture the heavyweight crown by gaining revenge over current champion Oleksandr Usyk? It’s too early to say, but I certainly wouldn’t risk much money on it. But that doesn’t mean that Fury doesn’t still have something to offer.

The 6’ 9” boxer boasts a professional record of 34 wins, two defeats and a draw. He has beaten 24 of his opponents inside the distance, resulting in a fearsome 70% knockout average. Despite his CV, Fury has lost each of his last two, beaten twice on points by Usyk.
His most recent victory was an unconvincing points win over UFC fighter Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia in 2023. He last won on British soil before his adoring fans when stopping fellow Brit Derek Chisora inside ten rounds at the home of Spurs in December 2022.
Lion Brings a 90% KO Average
Since Fury’s announcement, all the talk has focused on the big-punching Brit. But what about the opponent? Is Fury targeting an easy win on the big stage? Not for a second. Team Fury have selected Arslanbek Makhmudov, a Russian boxer currently based in Canada.
Known as the Lion, Makhmudov brings a 21-2-0 record, with 19 knockout wins. The 6’ 5” powerhouse is ranked 21st in the world. That will improve if he can find a way past Tyson. The 36-year-old visitor knows he has a real chance to change his career overnight.

We last saw Makhmudov in action when beating England’s Dave Allen at the Sheffield Arena late in 2025. The Russian won that one on points, but it was never a close contest. When watching Makhmudov vs Allen, it was obvious there’s more to come from the victor.
Lion returns to the UK following back-to-back wins. He stopped Ricardo Brown inside a round in Quebec City, before showing his skills to defeat Allen. Makhmudov has shown he can box and he can punch, but he’ll need all his skills on the biggest night of his boxing life.
Fury vs Makhmudov Betting and Markets
Fury’s return to face Makhmudov made headlines worldwide, creating a rush to purchase tickets for the event. Unsurprisingly, major betting apps wasted no time getting in on the action. Fight fans can bet on the winner of Fury vs Makhmudov or play one of the specials.
How do traders see this one going, and how can you target a profit from the live action?
Tyson Fury is the pre-fight favourite, which makes perfect sense. However, the odds are more competitive than you’d expect. The general feeling in the sports bookies market is Fury at odds of 2/11 to win.
Makhmudov to score a huge upset and surely force his opponent back into retirement circles at around 9/2.
Can’t split them? The draw is yours at 18/1.
Method of Victory
When betting on boxing, I’m a big fan of the method of victory market. It offers higher odds than you’ll find in the fight-winner option.
During my career competing in and then covering professional boxing, I’ve found that studying the stats often leads to a profit on the method of victory. You must predict the winning fighter and how they’ll achieve the result, such as Fury on points or Makhmudov by KO/TKO. Both parts of the bet must land to secure a profit here.
It’s early days in the Fury vs Makhmudov betting, and we must wait a few weeks for major box bookmakers to release extra markets and prices.
If you expect Fury to win, you should know that each of his last three outings went to points.
If you prefer the value on Makhmudov, eight of his previous ten ended inside the distance.
Totals
For bettors and boxing fans who would prefer to avoid picking sides, the totals markets should appeal. Your bookmaker will set their line for the total number of rounds, and you must bet on the fight going over or under that number.
Returning to the form of both gladiators shows a Fury fight hasn’t ended inside ten rounds since 2022. That was the sixth round TKO of Dillian Whyte at Wembley. Makhmudov brings raw power and fantastic technique, but he went the 12-round distance last time. Two of his previous three bouts have lasted until the eighth round.
Judging this one on the stats, I don’t expect an early night. It’s worth browsing the total rounds betting market when it’s available online. I’d suggest shooting for over 7.5 rounds as a strong bet or playing for better odds on over 8.5 rounds.
Fury vs Makhmudov Prediction
We’ve seen many boxers continue past their sell-by date, coming out of retirement and losing. I don’t expect that to happen in Tottenham.
Makhmudov looks made for Fury. The former champion will use his range and skills to put on a show, boxing his way to victory.
